Meeting Minutes of Dollars for Scholars Board of Directors - Feb 27, 2019

Attendees: Shelly Blome, Darci Eggen, Jessica Gilsrud, Daisy Canfield,
Jim Milne, Keith Borchert, Al Gise


MMA - motion made, seconded and approved.


1. MMA Blome/Canfield to approve previous meeting minutes.


2. Discussion on end of year drop in the market.  Back up $30, 000, so back to the same but will be less for scholarships because policy states year end.  Jeans day fund was $5,000.  Eggen will send out spreadsheet to show past donations.


3. Discussion on proposal for Wahpeton DFS to consider funding dual
credit courses for high school students. Tabled until more members are present.  Meet again before the awards breakfast.

4. A sample assembled by Jessica Gilsrud was reviewed and will be printed with a few modifications. Put together a list of businesses to distribute brochure to as well as school offices.  Shelly to assist in printing options. Canfield/Blome seconded and approved

 

5.  Deadline for students to apply for DFS is April 1st.  Gise/Canfield Seconded and approved.

 

6.  Discussion of BND conference.  We will continue to offer this to board members.

 

7.  Awards breakfast will be May 22^nd in the HS commons at 7:30 am to 8:25 am.  Sponsored by Bell Bank. Price needs to be under $800 with egg item, roll/muffin item and fruit.

8.  BND Returning Student Scholarship.   Daisy will send emails directly to students asap through the website.  Next year this should be done in January. 

9.  Eggen updated the board on Scholarship America and paid recertification fees.

10. Discussion on fundraising to increase assets of WDFS.  Look through annuals, phone-a-thon.  Student council members to help out possibly and take part in a facebook live event.


11. Follow-up on a few minor changes to Web site-S. Pauly
